Lead strategic academic operations
Participate in strategic planning and align academic services with UWI-ROYTEC's strategic direction
Provide academic and administrative leadership including short and long-range planning
Lead development and continuous improvement of the teaching and learning function of the institution
Oversee design and implementation of efficient and coordinated approach to curriculum development, monitoring and review
Prepare documentation in support of applications for programme and institutional accreditation
Drive digital transformation and innovation
Lead digital conversion of teaching and learning across the institution
Successfully implement the institution's Learning Management System
Lead and continually develop provision of relevant academic administration services, ensuring ongoing effectiveness, efficiency and delivery
Foster academic innovation through strong collaboration with Student Affairs Division
Manage people and performance
Recruit, orient, and ensure professional development and evaluation of faculty
Supervise direct reports including Deputy Director Academic Affairs, Manager-Debe Campus, Instructional Design Specialist, Subject Heads, Lecturers, and Programme Coordinators
Manage staff performance and encourage professional development, accountability and positive/productive teamwork
Ensure that system of student evaluations occurs systematically, fairly and regularly
Work collaboratively and ensure effective communication to build supportive, professional relationships with stakeholders
Ensure quality and compliance
Review and approve examinations/assessments
Develop, monitor and evaluate system of academic advising and other related activities
Ensure timely revisions of Faculty Handbook and other relevant documentation
Provide support to Registry Unit in preparation of Student Handbook and administration of regulations contained therein
Prepare reports to Academic Council on teaching and learning
Serve as Chair of committees/meetings and Deputy Chair on Board of Examiners and Academic Council
Approve applications for ethical clearance and project proposals for M.Ed. students
Manage budgets and operations
Prepare and manage allocated budget and identify and manage cost-saving initiatives
Develop and review policies and procedures of the Division
Sign/approve cheques/ACH payments in accordance with established Finance & Accounting policy and procedure
Stay current in the field through own personal professional development
Perform other duties as may be delegated or assigned
Key relationships: You'll work closely with a diverse network of stakeholders including:
Senior management and institutional leadership
Faculty, lecturers, and academic staff across all programmes
Board-appointed and institutional committees
Prospective and current students
External partners including franchisors and consultants
Registry and Student Affairs divisions
Success metrics: In this role, you'll be accountable for:
Faculty and student satisfaction levels exceeding 80% benchmark in satisfaction surveys
All required reports submitted on time and of high quality
All requested information from the Division supplied promptly and professionally
Faculty and student queries responded to promptly without escalation
Maintaining a welcoming and productive working relationship within the Academic Affairs Division
Who you are:
An experienced academic leader with deep understanding of tertiary education
Comfortable managing complex projects and multiple stakeholders
Organised and strategic โ able to run academic operations independently
Familiar with curriculum development and accreditation processes
Confident working with faculty, students, and institutional partners
Flexible and innovative โ quick to adapt in a dynamic educational environment
Knowledgeable about Learning Management Systems and educational technology
The bottom line: We're looking for someone with:
Master's degree in Education (Administration & Leadership) or related discipline
7+ years' experience in tertiary education leadership role
Proven track record in faculty and student administration
Experience preparing accreditation documentation for institutions and programmes
Sound knowledge of curriculum design, assessment methodologies, and academic advising
Excellent leadership skills with ability to motivate and achieve results through others
Strong communication and presentation abilities
Experience managing complex change and leading major projects to completion
Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership/Administration (desirable)
Digital leadership experience and Learning Management Systems expertise (desirable)
What we offer:
3-Year Fixed-Term Contract position with competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
Salary range: TT$28,000 - $30,000/month
