Share your salary. See everyone else’s.
PayCheck™ is the salary database Trinidad and Tobago professionals have been missing. Here’s why it matters, and how to get access.
Some things are best left hidden. What a job pays shouldn’t be one of them.
Salary secrecy benefits employers, stifles professional mobility, and stiffs people out of the compensation they deserve. When job ads don’t disclose pay, you don’t know the person sitting next to you earns more for the same role. You can’t negotiate from a position of strength at interviews. You accept what sounds reasonable, or you follow the same old script as everyone else: Benchmark against your last salary instead of your market value. And every time you do that, the gap between what you’re worth and what you’re paid quietly widens.
HR, more often than not, is complicit.
So we’ve made a choice: ShortlistHR will champion salary transparency in Trinidad and Tobago. We realise this is not a Trinidad and Tobago problem alone. It is a structural feature of every labour market that keeps compensation data behind closed doors. Yet in this country where salary ranges are almost never published, the information gap is particularly wide—and damaging.
Today, we’re announcing the launch of PayCheck™ to help solve the problem of salary secrecy. We think it’s a natural complement to our job roundups, a go-to salary tool that empowers jobseekers to discover their true earning potential.
And we have enjoyed making it for you.
What PayCheck™ actually is
PayCheck™ is a salary intelligence tool built by ShortlistHR. It contains verified salary data from professionals across Trinidad and Tobago, organised by role, company, and industry.
You can search what people actually earn in your field. You can compare compensation across employers. You can see whether that offer you’re considering is competitive or whether you’re leaving money on the table.
This is not estimated data pulled from job ads or crowdsourced from anonymous internet forums with no verification. Every salary in PayCheck™ is submitted by a real professional and verified before it enters the database.
Which means we’re in no hurry...
We are building the most comprehensive salary database for Trinidad and Tobago professionals, and important work takes time. With that said, the foundation is already in place. In the coming months, we expect the database to grow to 10,000 to 15,000 verified salaries across industries, giving you clearer benchmarks and sharper comparisons, so you make better decisions at every stage of your career.
Companies like Glassdoor and Payscale have made this kind of data accessible to American professionals for years. Several states have passed laws requiring employers to disclose pay ranges in job listings. Trinidad and Tobago does not have those laws.
What we have is each other.
Through crowdsourcing, we hope to inspire a new generation of forward-thinking professionals to share what they earn.
Every salary you share makes PayCheck™ more powerful for local professionals at large. You’ll be contributing to a system that makes the labour market fairer for everyone who participates.
Why salary transparency changes the game
When you walk into an interview with data, the power imbalance evaporates. You are no longer asking for more money based on a feeling. You are presenting evidence. You know what the role pays at comparable companies. You know where the floor is. You know where the ceiling is. And you can make your case with specifics.
That clarity changes outcomes. Research consistently shows that professionals who negotiate with market data secure higher starting salaries and better compensation trajectories over time. In a market like Trinidad and Tobago, where most professionals have had zero access to this kind of data, the advantage is even more pronounced.
But transparency only works when people participate. A salary database with ten entries is a curiosity. A database with 50,000 entries is infrastructure.
How to get access
PayCheck™ is available to annual ShortlistHR subscribers who have contributed their own salary data.
The model is simple: you share yours, you see everyone else’s. It takes about 60 seconds. Your name is never recorded or stored. Your submission becomes an anonymous data point: job title, employer, salary. That is all that appears in the database.
Here is how it works depending on your subscription:
Annual subscribers: Share your salary at paycheck.shortlisthr.co/share and you get immediate access to the full database.
Monthly subscribers: Switch to the annual plan (you’ll pay the same price), share your salary, and unlock PayCheck™.
Not yet subscribed: Subscribe to the annual plan here, then share your salary to activate access.
👉 One honest note
We are still early. You may spot inconsistencies as we clean and strengthen the database. You will not see every role or every company just yet. That’s just the nature of building something new.
But the data is real, the momentum is growing, and every contribution accelerates what this becomes.
Subscribe. Share your salary. See everyone else’s.
We appreciate your support. Help us build something that benefits jobseekers directly—and where it matters most.
